Background:
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the NSO and the direct supervision of the Security Guard Supervisor, the security guard will be responsible to assist in all related security issues regarding the safety and security of UNDP/PAPP Gaza staff and premises.
Description of Responsibilities:
·         Ensure all UNDP/PAPP security arrangements are in place under the supervision of the Security Guards Supervisor and the guidance of the NSO.
·         Ensure all security arrangements are in place in case of emergency.
·         Provides assistance to all staff of all agencies and visitors to the UNDP building
·         Assist Guards supervisor & NSO in all related security requirements when requested.
 
1.     Ensure all UNDP/PAPP security arrangements are in place under the supervision of the Security Guards Supervisor and the guidance of the NSO:
·         Implement UNDP/PAPP proper access procedures, pass and ID system.
·         Deny access to any one carrying a weapon.
·         Search visitors personal bags and physical search if needed
·         Implement proper vehicle search at the vehicle entrance.
·         Regular patrolling all around the building.
·         Ensure proper registry at the daily handover book.
·         Ensure proper registry of UN car movements
·         Assist in the evacuation drill exercise conducted twice a year with all specified tasks for the guards.
·         Maintenance of UNDP premises and assets.
·         Maintain contact with police in front of the premises.
 
2.     Ensure all security arrangements are in place in case of emergency:
·         Ensure VHF radio office base functional and implement radio check with DSS.
·         Assist in updating staff and dependant’s lists if requested.
·         Maintain direct contact with guard’s supervisor and NSO to inform about any related security incident or information.
 
3.     Provides assistance to all staff of all agencies and visitors to the UNDP building:
·         Deal in respectful way with staff and visitors.
·         Coordinate when requested with agencies visitors daily arrangements
 
4.     Assist security guard supervisor and NSO in all related security requirements when requested:
·         Be prepared to work in shifts and double shifts if required
·         Assist Security Guard Supervisor in administrative related tasks if requested.
·         Replace Security Guard Supervisor when requested.

  • Qualifications :
    Education:                                                  
    Secondary education completed. 
    Experience:                                               
    1 - 2 years experience in security related position is preferred. Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.
    Language Requirements:                     
    Fluency in English and national language of the duty station is required.
    • Other Skills and Requirements: Solid computers skills (MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint);
    • Physically fit
