Background:
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is looking for a candidate for the position of
National Deputy Project Manager (Animal Production and Health)
 
Description of Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Special Emergency Programmes Service (TCES), and under the general supervision of FAO Senior Emergency and Rehabilitation Coordinator (SERC) in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (WBGS), and the direct supervision of the FAO Senior Agricultural Advisor/Deputy SERC, the National Deputy Project Manager will have the overall responsibility for the implementation of animal production/health projects and activities.
 
-          Assist the International Emergency Programme Officer/Project Manager for an efficient and quality project implementation, and assume the overall responsibility of project management when the Emergency Programme Officeris absent;
-          Coordinate, under the supervision of the Emergency Programme Officer, the field project implementation teams at district level;
-          Assist the Emergency Programme Officerin the preparation of the detailed work plans, and in the supervision/monitoring of their implementation;
-          Under the guidance of the Emergency Programme Officer, identify and select the local partners involved in project implementation (such as local NGOs and CBOs and supervise their work performance);
-          Assist the Emergency Programme Officerin preparing the technical specifications for the goods, items and services to be procured under the project.
-          Identify and evaluate the capacity and quality of work of potential local suppliers of technical goods and services; 
-          Under the supervision of the Emergency Programme Officer, take the lead () in compiling the monitoring reports from the different activities of the project and implementation partners.

Qualifications :
Education:      High school diploma. University Bachelor’s degree in a subject relevant to the project is an asset (i.e. animal production, veterinary or closely related fields). 
 
Experience:     At least 3 years relevant experience in animal production, animal health; community mobilisation; experience and capacity in leading a team and managing a complex project
Languages:      Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic Languages.
 
Other:             Proven strong capacity to lead and guide a team of field staff;
Computer/word processing and standard office software skills.
