Background:
UNDP/PAPP-Jerusalem office invites candidates to apply for the position of Programme Assistant to support the Environment and Natural Unit, with special focus on the project “Promote peace building through cross boundary wastewater management in the oPt”. The Programme Assistant shall work under the supervision of the Project Manager at UNDP-PAPP in Jerusalem and Ramallah Offices. The Project Assistant will participate in the overall project implementation in the Northern region of the West Bank with the support staff and will work in close collaboration with the Project Manager and the Project Team.
Description of Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant reports to the Project Manager and carries out the following:
- Provide Programme and Project administration, management, and implementation support to the Project Team in their daily tasks. This will include: preparing letters and faxes in English and Arabic, copying, filing, editing, and formatting computer documents, central record keeping, data input and UNDP/PAPP systems follow-up and processing, etc.
- Assist in capitalize on already existing management structures and help in improve /establish communication, coordination mechanisms and procedures amongst the stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of inception reports, work plans and regular donor progress and impact reports.
- If needed, undertake monitoring visits to project sites and report on project progress and constraints to the Project Manager.
- Ensure the achievement of outputs in line with the approved work plan through the day-to-day planning, management coordination and implementation of activities.
- Liaise with counterparts and Project staff for any requirements regarding project management (especially for arranging meetings, request documents, explanation of UNDP and donor’s requirements, timely reporting, etc) and prepare reports in English when needed.
- Review incoming operational and financial reports in terms of completeness, accuracy, compliance with UNDP rules and regulations.
- Prepare Minutes of Meeting for the Team meetings.
- Coordinate with the implementing partners on financial management of the project activities, including monitoring Project financial expenditures and transactions.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Project Management.

Qualifications :
Education:      
 Diploma Degree in Administration, Financial Management, Program Management, Environmental Sciences or related field. A BA would be considered an asset.
 
Experience:     
 Minimum of 4-6 years of Program experience in a team environment, including strong organizational and administrative skills and demonstrating increasing responsibility.
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc).
 
Language Requirements:        
 Fluency in Arabic and English (written and oral).
